VIDEO GUIDELINES
This is a contest and we want you to have a shot at winning. In order to help you, we have a few suggestions that will help you reach that goal.
- You should submit films between 30 seconds and 1 minute in length.
- You should use a MAXIMUM of 12 shots in your film.
- Think about how your town can be shown with a few dramatic shots. Try to tell a story.
- You don't have to wear rose-tinted glasses. It's all about what makes your town unique. Emphasize the contrasts.
- Do not use transitions, titles or special effects in your edit. Cuts only.
- We love bold images. Make sure we know what we're looking at.
- Good lighting and steady camera work will dramatically increase your chances of winning.
- Make sure you get everyone you shoot to sign a release form (Download Here) so they can be used in your video.
The secret to good storytelling is to show, don't tell. As the selected videos will be shown without sound on the live concert stage, it's good to be visual.
Think of the song "I Love This Town" off the Lost Highway CD. The winning clips will play as a accompaniment to the song. So imagne how your images would work in a music video context. Be stylish. Be bold.
Here are some examples of the kind of shots that would make your film great.

Cool signs, iconic symbols of a place, city skylines, people doing interesting things. Think of yourself as a film maker. You're showing people why your town is great. Using images that are powerful and compelling.
Make your town a star. And have your work be seen by millions of people around the world.
